Of Anniversaries and Friendships!

It feels like just yesterday when I had written a little post on Facebook for our 10th anniversary. Five years have gone by in a flash…and what an adventure it has been.

I had planned a little getaway this year but the cosmos had other plans for us. I have no complaints though, because I got to spend the entire day with my husband (read as he was working all day and is still working as I write this at 11.03)!

The celebration officially started as soon as it was the 29th in India, with a live streaming of a puja for the Ganesha near my parents’ home. Special calls and messages started pouring in and continued as we officially entered the 29th here. The daily routine soon took over as my husband got busy with his work and I kept trying to figure out what to cook. We decided on a simple menu (mainly because he couldn’t afford to doze off after lunch). I, however, took a nice long nap while the poor guy slogged till evening.

A friend of ours was supposed to come by in the evening and as we waited for her, we decided to order take out from a local restaurant. She pulled up and to our absolute amazement, behind her were four other cars…our closest friends. If you know me, you also know that I can talk a mile a minute but at that moment I was at a total loss for words! It has been more than four hours since all this happened and I still do not have words to describe the experience. Both of us have been on the giving end of surprises many a times, but this was simply special.

They brought us a gorgeous bunch of flowers, dinner and a beautiful cake! This unexpected gesture was the best ending for this special anniversary. I am not exaggerating when I say that we are more than lucky to have such friends who have, over the years, crossed the boundaries of friendship and moved into the close circle we call family! I only have a BIG thank you from the bottom of my heart for them and everyone who was a part of our special day!!!

P.S. I’d like to thank another friend of mine who started a blog recently and inspired me to get back to writing :-).
